ETABO's technically effective and economical concept convinces EEW in Pirmasens

The MHKW Pirmasens of Energy from Waste with 2 incineration lines for the incineration of household waste was built in 1999. The waste throughput is 180,000 t per year. In the course of renewing the steam turbine, tapped steam from the turbine at 16 bar(a) will no longer be available in the future. A solution was needed!

ETABO's technically conclusive and economical concept for the extraction of high-pressure drum steam to supply the combustion air preheating for the firing system was able to convince those responsible at the Pirmasens waste incineration plant and we were awarded the contract!

In addition, various modifications will be carried out to supply the SNCR (selective catalysis by means of urea injection) with motive steam in the future.

The complete process engineering design is carried out by ETABO's specialist departments.
For this purpose, we supply new steam-heated air preheaters according to the latest state of the art. Particular emphasis was placed here on the possibility of cleaning the air preheaters.
In addition, the steel structure will be extended to install a pressure-reducing station in the boiler house.

ETABO is supplying the entire new piping and conversion, including the fittings, all the necessary planning and installation work up to TÜV acceptance and commissioning.

The conversion will be carried out in two ambitious partial stages. "We are pleased that our concept fulfils the requirements and wishes of EEW and, following the successful completion of the first part in November 2021, we are now motivated to start the second part in July 2022," says project manager Dietmar Heußen.
