Last year, ETABO received an order from BASF in Schwarzheide to construct an electrode boiler system for the new power-to-heat plant in the Lausitz Industrial Park.
In August, an important step was taken: our team successfully installed the 25-megawatt electrode boiler, the feed water tank and the electric superheater in the plant – a key milestone in the project. Torsten A. and his team are therefore right on schedule.
The electrode boiler works on the principle of an oversized kettle: electricity is used to heat water and generate steam. In future, it will complement the existing combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant, enabling flexible, more sustainable steam generation.
Advantages at a glance:
• Savings in fuel costs
• Reduction in CO₂ emissions
• Contribution to climate-friendly energy supply
The power-to-heat plant is scheduled to go into operation in 2026.
We are delighted to be working with BASF on this project and contributing to the energy transition.
